This easy smoothie recipe surely gives me a boost of energy each morning and a great start to my day.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and provides you with the energy and nutrients that lead to increased concentration in the classroom and office. Studies show that breakfast can be important in maintaining a healthy body weight. Hunger sets in long before it’s time for lunch, but because it’s not convenient to eat properly, many people who have not eaten breakfast, snack on foods that are high in fat and sugar. People who skip breakfast are unlikely to make up their daily requirement for some vitamins and minerals that a simple breakfast would have provided. Breakfast provides energy for the activities during the morning and helps to prevent that mid-morning slump.
3 leaves of Kale or handful of spinach
1/2 to 1 cup of Blueberries
Chia Seeds and/or Flax Seeds
1/2 cup of Almond milk – enough to get the blender going.
Use a heavy duty blender. Chop, mix, and enjoy a great homemade nutritional morning smoothie.
I normally like to make a big batch in case I feel like having one throughout the day. To refrigerate make sure you place a tight lid on it so you can save it for later or the next day. Some mornings it’s a pain in the hind end to make all this, but to keep it simple my fresh fruits are all cut up and frozen so I just through it in and mix.
On a camping trip one year, I froze these drinks in the freezer and took it on a 3 day camping trip. I have to say it was a perfect breakfast drink that lasted a good 3 days in my cooler with no problem as long as it was well iced. I would not recommend longer then that. I also would not recommend drinking this after 3 days of sitting in the fridge. If not frozen, usually by the third day it does not have pleasant taste.
I rather make my smoothies fresh. However, on those mornings I am in a rush, I make one the night before so I just grab and go.
